What is an instructional designer?

As an instructional designer, I specialize in creating learning experiences that help people understand, apply, and retain new knowledge and skills. My work spans industries including finance, insurance, robotics, non-profits, and healthcare—each with its own unique learning needs and challenges.

I apply principles from psychology, education theory, and technology to design training that is effective, engaging, and efficient. My process involves analyzing learner needs, designing curriculum, developing materials, and evaluating outcomes. Collaboration is central to my approach—I work closely with subject matter experts, trainers, and stakeholders to ensure content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with organizational goals.

With a strong background in corporate training, education, and healthcare, I bring both academic knowledge and practical experience to every project. I’m well-versed in learning frameworks like ADDIE and Bloom’s Taxonomy, and proficient in tools such as Articulate 360 and Adobe Captivate. Beyond technical skills, I’m a curious problem-solver with strong writing, communication, and visual design abilities.

I’ve also self-taught principles of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX), and actively pursue growth in these areas to enhance the learner journey. At the heart of my work is a commitment to bridging the gap between information and performance—transforming content into meaningful, results-driven learning experiences.

What programs do you specialize in?

As an instructional designer, I specialize in a wide range of tools that support the creation, organization, and delivery of effective learning experiences. I develop interactive online courses using eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) and Adobe Captivate. To enhance visual engagement, I incorporate high-quality multimedia using programs like Camtasia, Vyond, Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

For collaboration and project management, I’ve worked with platforms including Google Workspace, Microsoft Suite (Access and Teams), Trello, Smartsheets, and Asana to keep projects organized and aligned with stakeholder goals. I also explore emerging technologies such as Colossyan, ChatGPT, Copilot, and Sora to elevate learning experiences through AI-driven personalization and automation. These tools allow me to design and deliver engaging, interactive, and scalable learning solutions across diverse platforms and environments—tailored to meet the needs of modern learners and organizations.

While I don’t endorse any specific enterprise-level learning management systems (LMSs) such as Thought Industries or Xyleme, I am highly proficient in using LMS platforms to publish and manage courses, monitor learner progress, and assess training outcomes. I’ve implemented tools like Net Promoter Scoring (NPS) to measure learner engagement, satisfaction, and compliance, and have conducted course evaluations based on both participant performance and feedback. My approach ensures that learning experiences are not only well-designed but also measurable and aligned with organizational goals.
